SCIENCE ON THE LAWN
Some of our collaborators from KCC COGS, KCC Automotive, Conservation Dogs Hawaii, KIUC, AES, Friends of Kaua'i Wildlife Refuges, HIDRONE, The Breadfruit Institute at NTGB and Kaua'i Forest Bird Recovery Project joined us to provide a wide array of STEAM content and activities for WHS students at a "Science on the Lawn " feature of their HA Day Event. Mahalo to all of the collaborators for joining us!
'ELE'ELE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STEAM NIGHT
This was out first IN PERSON STEAM Night with 'Ele'ele Elementary School. We shared the West Kaua'i Energy Project Model that was designed, built and presented by KCSC Interns and one of our partners from AES. We also provided a "Big Bubble" activity, "3 Little Pigments" and a couple of KCSC Brown Bag Activities that folks could make there or take home. Mahalo for inviting us 'Ele'ele Elementary School!
KAUA'I GIRL SCOUTS
STEM FEST
We had so much fun sharing the WKEP Model at the 2022 Kaua'i Girl Scouts STEM FEST. We were joined by our collaborators from AES and discussed the renewable energy project as well as shared about renewable energy generally and careers in renewable energy too!
In the spring of 2021 we were approached by some of our elementary schools looking for ways to provide hands-on STEAM fun for students and their families and the KCSC VIRTUAL STEAM Nights were born. In December 2021 we had our first STEAM Day with Koloa Elementary School.
Contact us about a KCSC STEAM Event!
Like everything at KCSC, KCSC Interns are the main feature and highlight of every KCSC Virtual STEAM Event. KCSC Interns share their expertise with the students through demonstrations, activities, answering questions and providing some top rate STEAM content. A KCSC Virtual STEAM Event might look something like this lineup that was from our very first KCSC Virtual STEAM Night with Eleele Elementary School in April 2021.

Contact KCSC, email, info@kauaicsc.org or call 808-431-4332 and we can discuss your needs, interests and work on building a plan together.
KCSC will finalize the plan with school staff and will work on preparing the materials for the for the event, like KCSC Brown Bag activities. This could also involve 3D printing items for students in your school colors or perhaps items to match the activities or theme of the event. In the spring of 2021 we have added coloring contests to our KCSC Virtual STEAM Nights for example.
KCSC will create an event for your school on their event registration website so that parents from your school can register there. That allows KCSC to stay up to date with the number of folks registering and KCSC will provide the list of participants back to the school ahead of the event.
KCSC will bring all of the materials and the list of people registered to your school the day before the event or at a time that is agreed to. The school will then distribute the materials to the students at their school. With a coloring contest for example, KCSC would deliver the coloring sheets a week before the event and then pick of the completed coloring sheets the day before the event. Winners would be announced at the event.
KCSC provides a zoom link to everyone that has registered for the event. KCSC will connect early on zoom with the School Principal or other school lead along with any KCSC Interns calling in to ensure that all of the connections are working and then we will start letting in students about five minutes before the event starts.
KCSC will provide the school with the results of the mentimeter survey and ensure that all of the event needs are met and completed.
Are you looking for fun ways to learn about STEAM subjects? Our KCSC Brown Bag Activities are full of informal science fun. We feature these at our KCSC Virtual STEAM Nights and other events.
