KCSC Constructive Visions Press Release_12.03.21 (pdf)
DownloadIn 2020, a small community of National Geographic Explorers alongside other international experts began to form, drawn together by the simple idea that challenge has also brought opportunity. That chaos has inspired creativity. And that all of these are key for change.
They were drawn together by the belief that not only has there been an abundance of positive changes in the dust of unimaginable pain, loss, and stress, but also that it is imperative to learn from these and adopt them as more long-term sustainable practices. Through this new community, they supported each other, they listened to one another, and they envisioned a future that they wanted beyond COVID-19.
Over 50 community members, scientists, educators, journalists, and photographers from more than 20 countries have been developing a collection of 10 illustrated stories, blends of fiction and fact, each painting a unique picture of possibility.
Kauai Community Science Center is one of 30 Constructive Vision Partner Organizations in 23 countries that are joining forces to learn, share, connect and create with each other.
KCSC is thrilled to be part of this amazing network of organizations all over the world that enables us to connect the students and partners we work with to a whole new range of resources and opportunities.
We are building a KCSC Constructive Visions Team of students to start this program during the 2021 - 2022 school year. The first phase of the partnership program involves building a team of students to review the Constructive Visions Book and use that as inspiration to develop relevant activities, events, and whatever content the students can imagine to support new pathways for positive change.
The project is completely aligned with the KCSC Core Values; Increasing access to science, Growing science literacy, promoting climate change awareness and creating a safe and respectful place. In addition, the work we do together will utilize all of the 21st Century Skills we model and promote, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking that are important for all of us as we work together to build a more sustainable future.
