A Science Center Connecting Science & Community
We are happy to offer our first ever KCSC ROBOTICS SUMMER CAMP!
Two KCSC Student Interns, Kathleen Alvarez and Joveline Alvarez, who are both members of the WHS Robotics Team will be sharing their knowledge and passion for robotics with students. During the 4-day camp students will explore virtual reality simulations, programming, building robots and more through hands-on learning experiences.
There is room for 12 middle school students (grades 6,7 & 8). No prior experience is necessary and we do expect all participants to attend all four days of the camp from 9:00am - 1:00pm daily at the West Kauai Technology & Visitor Center in Waimea.
If you have questions, email, firstname.lastname@example.org or call, 808-645-6017. Click the link to register below.
Kathleen is a rising senior at Waimea High School and has been an intern at KCSC since September 2020. Her passion for STEM, robotics and engineering began in elementary school, on the island of Moloka'i. She and her sister, Joveline, competed in the VEX IQ robotics competitions at both the state and world levels. In 2018 her family moved to Kauai and since her sophomore year at Waimea High School she has been the President of the Waimea High School FTC (First Tech Challenge) robotics club/team. Additionally, she has participated in almost every KCSC HOTspot event leading robotics demonstrations - sharing the WHS robot at KCSC STEAM Nights and KCSC HOTspot events.
Joveline is a rising sophomore at Waimea High School. Her interest in robotics and engineering started in elementary school, on Moloka'i, through VEX IQ robotics competitions. She moved to Kauai in her seventh grade year and is currently an active member at the Waimea High School FTC and Kauai FRC robotics team. Joveline is part of the KCSC Industry Partnership Program and has supported the robotics demonstrations at KCSC HOTspot events.
