We are happy to offer our second KCSC ROBOTICS SUMMER CAMP!
KCSC Student Interns, Kathleen, Joveline and Kaye Alvarez, along with members of the WHS Robotics Team, Hope Newton, Edward Pinkston, and Mathew Fontaine, will be sharing their knowledge and passion for robotics with students.
During the 4-day camp students will explore virtual reality simulations, programming, building robots and more through hands-on learning experiences.
There is room for 12 students entering grades 7th, 8th, & 9th in the 2022-2023 school year. No prior experience is necessary and we do expect all participants to attend all four days of the camp from 9:00am - 1:00pm daily at the West Kauai Technology & Visitor Center in Waimea.

Joveline is a rising junior at Waimea High School. Her interest in robotics and engineering started in elementary school, on Moloka'i, through VEX IQ robotics competitions. She moved to Kauai in her seventh grade year and is currently an active member at the Waimea High School FTC and Kauai FRC robotics team. Joveline is part of the KCSC Industry Partnership Program and has supported the robotics demonstrations at KCSC HOTspot events.
Kaye is a rising sophomore at Waimea High School. Her interests are in the health field but has been exposed to robotics throughout her life because of her sisters. She moved to Kauai with her family in her sixth grade year and is currently a member of HOSA and the LEO club at WHS. Kaye is a rising co-captain for her Air-Riflery team, making it to Nationals in Arizona and Oahu multiple times and won first place in the State JROTC Championships and Interscholastic championships.
Hope is a rising senior at Waimea High School. Her interest in STEM started in middle school when she attended the state science fair. While joining the Waimea High School FTC team she was able to learn many new skills and found a passion in robotics.
Edward is going into his junior year at Waimea High School. His interest started with the First Lego league in elementary school. Joining the Waimea FTC team brought a new level of passion for robotics leading him to join the Kauai FRC team. Through robotics he learned new skills, leadership and teamwork.
Kathleen is now an alumni at Waimea High School and has been an intern at KCSC since September 2020. Her passion for STEM, robotics and engineering began in elementary school, on the island of Molokai. She and her sister, Joveline, competed in the VEX IQ robotics competitions at both the state and world levels. In 2018 her family moved to Kauai and since her sophomore year at Waimea High School she has been the President of the Waimea High School FTC (First Tech Challenge) robotics club/team. Additionally, she has participated in almost every KCSC HOTspot event leading robotics demonstrations - sharing the WHS robot at KCSC STEAM Nights and KCSC HOTspot events.
