WIFI + STEAM = HOTspot
COVID-19 has made learning challenging for everyone involved; students, teachers and parents. KCSC wants to support students, teachers and parents by bringing resources to their neighborhoods with KCSC HOTspot. KCSC HOTspot will come to neighborhoods and the students, teachers and parents can gather, adhering to social distancing, have access to wifi and connect with each other. Via KCSC HOTspot KCSC will share information, resources as well as fun science related activities and content.
KCSC HOTspot will be outfitted as a WiFi hotspot. We will provide free Wifi and we expect to be able to provide wifi within 1000 ft of the KCSC HOTspot.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & culture and Math.
Come for the WiFi, and stay for the STEAM programs. STEAM, not the hot kind, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & culture and Math.
Kauai Community Science Center is working with professionals from the BNY Mellon Fab Lab at Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA, STE(A)M Truck powered by Community Guilds in Atlanta, GA and Chaminade University's " I Am a Scientist" mobile STEM program in Honolulu to develop KCSC HOTspot. These three established mobile learning resources are amazing collaborators for KCSC as we start our own "mobile" endeavor.
